[Music Review] TERI KASAM - ADNAN SAMI (2004)
Producer/Label: T-Series
Singer: Adnan Sami Lyrics: Sameer Music: Adnan Sami Number of Songs: 09 1) Kasam Adnan Sami is back once again with his latest album, “Teri Kasam” after the huge success of his earlier albums “Tera Chehra” and “Kabhi Tu Nazar Milao”. “Kasam” is a ballad that appears in two versions within this album. Adnan sings it in soothing tone, which is very effective. Sameer writes gorgeous lyrics that gel well with the song’s theme. Since Adnan is a creative composer (as he is a talented singer also), he arranges a lovely and melodious tune for this song. This number is superb both audibly and visually (the video features Amisha Patel) and deserves repeated hearings. It begins the soundtrack beautifully. Rating: 8.5/10 2) Kasam – Second Version The second version of the song is remixed with a faster beat. Its carries a similar affect to the first version. Rating: 7.5/10 3) Mahiya The romantic song “Mahiya” appears next showcasing Adnan’s catchy vocals once again. The mellifluous composition attracts and the lyrics become the highlight of the number as well. The video is on air featuring Adnan Sami and Bhoomika Chawla in the lead. Adnan with his stylish haircut looks smart whereas beautiful Bhoomika chills with her perfectly delivered choreography. The direction is first-rate also. Rating: 8.5/10 4) Kabhi Aisa Lagay Next is a romantic-melodious song, “Kabhi Aisa Lagay” sung in Adnan’s extremely full-throated vocals. Instruments are appealing so are the lyrics and music. It is a nice, hummable number. Rating: 8.5/10 5) Pal Do Pal “Pal Do Pal” features a gorgeous rendition by Adnan. The dholak attracts the most amongst the instruments. Sameer’s lyrics are pleasant and the music by Adnan himself is spellbinding. Rating: 8/10 6) Chand Nikla Chand Nikla is a slow piece of music. Adnan renders it in perfect rhythm. The lyrics and music are excellent. The song has soothing melodies to enjoy. Rating: 8/10 7) Poocho Following next on the album is a song that can be rated as the best track of the entire album. “Poocho” features the singer-composer’s brilliant vocals sung in slow rhythm. The instrumental arrangement soothes the ears but what captures the soul is the Sarangi playing by Ustad Sultan Khan. Sameer writes creative lyrics, which are complimented whole-heartedly by Adnan. A great piece of work by the entire team. Rating: 9.5/10 8) Tauba Adnan disappoints with his poor singing style in “Tauba”. The dholak and flute makes a pleasing fusion. Lyrics are okay whilst the music is good to hear. Rating: 4/10 9) Best Friend The album ends with a racy number, “Best Friend”, which has similarities to Adnan’s earlier song, “Lift Kara De”. He sings it in ordinary style. Lyrics and music are both down market. The song could be popular amongst the youngsters since they like to hear these type of tracks. Rating: 2/10 Overall: “Teri Kasam” displays many similarities to “Tera Chehra” nevertheless it is a classy album. It should be praised and deserves repeated listens. Since Adnan’s albums always have some sweet feeling attached to them, “Teri Kasam” too continues this tradition. Overall Rating: 8.5/10 |
