Kyaa Kool Hai Hum
KKHH spells success. The last time KKHH hit the screens, history was written. Yes, we are talking about SRK-Kajol-Rani starrer ' Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ' that went on to break all records for a romantic bubblegum love triangle. Circa 2005 and we have another KKHH hitting the screens that calls you to 'Get Kool This Summer!!' This time around it is Tusshar Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Ishaa Koppikar and Neha Dhupia who form a youthful team and are arriving soon to rock the show by announcing ' Kya Kool Hai Hum ' (KKHH). And the movie does look 'Kool' with each and every frame looking rich and glossy and giving an impression of a naughty, raunchy and a fun filled teenybopper. A Balaji Telefims Ltd. presentation, KKHH is produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, directed by Sangeeth Sivan ( Zor, Chura Liya Hai Tumne ), has music by Anu Malik and lyrics by Sameer.
Anu Malik begins the title song ' Kya Kool Hai Hum ' in his inimitable manner and gets the stage set for this decade's most promising singers Kunal Ganjawala and K.K. A rhythmic track, it is a sure shot campus hit that is about guys, girls, fun, flirting and joy! Coupled with eye-catching choreography, sets and cinematography, the song catches your attention right away and is a positive bet to be a chartbuster. In a traditional T-Series tradition, an ' Instrumental ' and a ' Remix ' follow soon after. Sunidhi Chauhan, Sowmya Raoh and Gayatri get together for ' Jaago Na ', a hip-hop rhythmic track about girls who are out to get hold of boys. With Neha Dhupia and Ishaa Koppikar as the lead heroines, one is rest assured that the number should soar up the temperatures. The number is definitely not a classic, but in the narrative of the movie it should turn out to be quite effective. Add to that the comic undertones of the situation, and the number (with an ' Instrumental ' to follow) may as well be a laugh riot on screen. Another foot tapping youth oriented track that follows next is ' We Are So Different ' that is again about ' Kya Kool Hai Hum ' (Yes, these are the lyrics that form the major part of the song!). By the look of things, this track by Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala could be situated during the roll of titles. Beat one, Beat two, some lyrics in between and a stadium-wide audience cheer in the background - this is how the entire song has been programmed. Sunidhi Chauhan gets raunchy in her duet ' Chaska ' with Kunal Ganjawala where she is her husky best. Another one of those foot tapping dhol'n'drum beats tracks; this too is an instant coffee that gets on your lips right away. A kind of number that does well for the situation but still doesn't have enough ammunition to skyrocket to the top of the charts and make a place for itself! Trust Ekta Kapoor to come up with a hot'n'happening choreography and costumes for this number that would make people stick to their seats. Grand finale of the album happens with ' The Rishi Rich Project' - 'Dil Mera ' (One Night) by Jay Sean. The same team that came up with the chart topping ' Mere Dil Vich Hain Hum Tum ' in 2004's grand success ' Hum Tum ', arrives once again with a bang in ' Dil Mera ' – yet another fusion track that's a mix of English, Hindi and Punjabi. Will the number be as big as ' Hum Tum '? Well, that's something, which will depend upon the overall publicity, word of mouth and the success of the movie. But for now, the song has everything to become quite popular and be a crowd puller. The movie is targeted at the youth and the songs fully compliment the movie's mood and theme. There are no song'n'dance routine around the trees and not a single ' dard-e-judaai ' sequence (thankfully)! Anu Malik has delivered what is expected from a bubble gum flick and there is no pretension of coming up with a music that is out rightly different or aimed at the music awards. The message is clear and simple. Let's come together to dance and have a party time this summer. |
