India's Fame Gurukul 2005 : Qazi, Ruprekha: Fame Jodi

The Fame Jodi is finally out!

After 15 weeks of speculation and high excitement, Sony television's Fame Gurkul has announced its Fame Jodi as Ruprekha Banerjee and Qazi Taqueer.

The hit reality show came to an end today, after the couple walked away with a contract of Rs 10 million with Sony BMG and a Maruti Alto.

The audience voted out Rex D'Souza, the always smiling third contestant.

Qazi hails from Kashmir, and was voted in 10 times by the audience. He dedicated his win to his Uncle Rafi, a singer and Qazi's mentor. Ruprekha hails from Kolkata, while Rex from Mumbai.

Fame Gurukul is a daily reality drama that tells the story of 14 talented singers who enter the coveted music academy Fame Gurukul and their journey to becoming India's biggest singing sensations.

Rooprekha Banerjee and Qazi Touqueer became the first Fame Jodi (defeating the romantic jodi with Rex D'Souza) because the people love them for their singing, their performance, and their honesty. Over 87 lakh votes came in and their jodi was the most popular.

The Fame Gurukul faculty was lead by noted singer Ila Arun, Padma Wadkar, Prashant Samadhar and show hosted by Mandira Bedi and Manav Gohil. The celebrity judges were Javed Akhtar, Kay Kay Menon and Shankar Mahadevan. Now Sony Entertainment Television will launch Celebrity Fame Gurukul, where the disciples in the Gurukul will be celebrities.

Based on a successful Spanish reality show called Operation Truinfo, Sony Entertainment Television's Fame Gurukul rocked millions of Indians with the fierce competition, spectacular performances and stardom success. Operation Truinfo has been adapted across 11 countries gripping millions of viewers across three continents.
